Peru is Dancing was born out of love for dance and for my country. Peruvian folkloric dances are not only an artistic expression of the population but a mirror of the rich and diverse cultural heritage. This multimedia project highlights how Peruvian dance has been enriched throughout its history and how Peru has always been a country of dance. The book showcases Pre-Hispanic cultures with illustrations, featuring the Caral, Chavín, Nazca, Mochica, Huari, Chimú and Inca civilizations and their reflects on the colonial era. The video explores the period after colonization, where all cultures fused to become one, and displays three representative dances: Festejo, Valicha and Shipibo. Each dance from a different region – the coast, the highlands and the jungle.

More and more areas of technology are becoming accessible. This is changing our reality and expanding our abilities. Consequently, dancing is gaining new means of expression. The dancing body no longer has physical limits when portrayed in 3D illustrations. In VR, the body can assume new forms, whether abstract or exaggerated, to emphasize the movement and feeling of the dance. This video is an example of the future of dance. Music: La Marca Del Santo – Ali Córdova.

The Sobremesa tradition blurs the boundaries between lunch and dinner, creating one long meal and situating conversation in the center. It has a lasting and fleeting aspect to it. A0 posters illustrate the infinite extension of this moment. While the thin texture of the paper emphasizes evanescence, its dimension emphasizes durability. Potato stamps and a personally writen text also form part of the posters. Let’s make more sobremesas!
